Hi everybody is me ZM and I have done a slide presentation about some recent events we have been doing this term.
During Term 4 Room 17 decided to create mask masterpieces. First we put paper mache on a balloon then we cut it, painted it and decorated it with feathers, jewels, pipe cleaners, pom poms, googly eyes etc. So click here to see a taste of the finished product.

Last term a monster of a truck delivered what looked like a run-down shack!
We were told it was the Shelly Park Hilton – Yeah right!!!
At the start of the year we got a letter about our school’s comfort and safety, we don’t think the Hilton was in ‘this’ letter.
We have a lot of complaints. Here are some…………..
Some referred to the closing of Pod 4 as its ‘terminal breath’.
Some said it was the buildings turn to ‘bite the dust’.
Others say it was on a slow boat to Hades.
Believers say it ‘kicked the bucket’.
Well, life in the Hilton can be sweet. We are close to the field and court, so when the bell goes we are first there. (well actually, we can’t hear the bell).
Besides our teacher isn’t that bad. In fact, she gets good ideas about how to make the Hilton look a bit better. We still get to do all the normal stuff, reading, writing, the arts, maths and athletics. So there are some ups and downs.
Here we are………….. checked in at the Hilton, so why not make the most of it!
GINGER, THE SCHOOL DISCO CAT – by Mrs R
We have a school cat.
Well……he’s not really our cat. He belongs to a family who live close to our school.
His name is Ginger.
The children at Shelly Park School love Ginger. The teachers do not!
Ginger makes himself very comfortable inside our rooms especially when it is raining. He finds all sorts of cosy places to sleep.
In our class he sleeps on my teachers chair. That annoys me because I get ginger cat fur on my black pants.
It has been reported to me that Ginger make himself very comfortable in all sorts of places around the school. On teachers cars, classroom cushions, in book boxes and of course on the laps of kids at our school!
BUT – a very funny thing happened last Friday night.
It was a wet and cold night and the chn were having a great time at our school disco. Ginger appeared at the door. He was NOT invited in. The teachers thought he should be at home with his own family curled up in front of a heater or where a cat with any sense would be – asleep on a warm bed.
NO – not our Ginger. He wanted to boogie. He wanted to groove. He wanted to dress up. He wanted to laugh and play and sing along with the kids at the disco. Ginger was out for some FUN!
And, as you know cats are very good at getting what they want. Ginger snuck past our security parents and in through the door.
Ginger strolled through the kids dancing and right up to D.J Lennie. Not to be put off by the very loud music, Ginger rubbed up against the speakers and rolled and lolled. I guess that’s how cats dance!
The kids kept dancing…..…………
Then as quietly and sneakily as he made his way in the door, he made his way out.
I guess he made his way home to his own family. His Mum probably asked him why he was so late home, why his coat was so wet and why his little paddy paws were worn and hot.
We know ……..it was from all the dancing at our school disco.
Beijing 2008
Are you enjoying watching our fantastic athletes competing at the Olympic Games?
We are…………….
But have you thought how hard it must be to spend so many hundreds of hours on training so that they are in ‘top’ condition?
The air in Beijing is smoggy, hazy and polluted.
Countries that host the games should be clean and the air should be fresh and safe to breathe.
What do you think?

The Phoenix (pronounced fee-nix) is a sign of hope for many people and can come in very handy at times. It lives in Arabia which is quite near Persia and if it finds a best friend it may come live with them anywhere in the world.
About the Beast
The phoenix only comes when people are in real need of it, it then swoops down on the needer’s opponent and stabs him/her in the eyes with his claws.
Distinguishing Features
Yellow and Brown eyes
Gold Beak.
Behaviour
The Phoenix lives for 500 years then it bursts into flame, its tears have healing powers and if it has an owner and the owner is going to die the phoenix swoops down on the owner and transports him where-ever the owner wants to go.

After the Weta house and eating leaves which was pretty gross, we went to plant some trees. The man that was in charge of us told us to get into groups of three. R, Z and I were in a group. R dug first, Z dropped in the Fertiliser tablet and I planted. Then Z got another plant but this time I dug, R dropped in the fertiliser tablet and Z planted. This is my first blog!

Hi I’m M.W.C and I’m writing on behalf of the Shelly Park basketball team. We play every Thursday nights at the Howick Recreation Centre. We have played 10 games so far this season and have won every game. We have an awesome team they are a great group of kids to play with and our coaches are outstanding. Our practices are every week on Fridays after school. It is a really fun game to play and watch. The parents get very excited and are very noisy.
The Brownie has a life span of 150 years. Just before it dies it finds a suitable mushroom patch and spends their last weeks tending to it. The brownie population numbers 6 billion at the last count, going up each day. Recognising a brownie in a forest because they are masters of disguise. Every full moon a brownie howls at the moon, they are actually howling to Hades, the brownie star. Brownies are sometimes mistaken for a child when seen.
Are the same size as an average 10 year old.
Covered in brown fur.
Have paws instead of hands and feet.
Green eyes and blue tongue.
Pointy ears.
